Cederberg Five Generation Cab

South Africa’s most uniquely situated wine farm falls within the pristine environs of the Cederberg Wilderness Area, which lies in the Cape Floral Kingdom. Here, among spectacular rock formations you will find the highest altitude vineyards in the Cape. The cold climate and remote location, with its pure mountain air and water, ensures that the vines are virus free. This results in award-winning wines which show an exceptional purity of fruit.

The farm has been in the Nieuwoudt family for five generations and David Nieuwoudt currently makes the wines.

Five Generation Cabernet Sauvignon Is a Cape classic and leads the pack in the Cederberg range.
The production is Limited to 3400 bottles, handcrafted, classically styled 2008, made to mature (peak around 2014 – 2016 though already delicious. 
18 months of maturation in new French oak has intensified the rich aromas of blackcurrant and cassis, layered with decadent dark chocolate, minerality, herbs and cherry tobacco velvety finish leaves one wanting more.

Another wine that always amazes me in the range is the Bukettraube and I will come back to this.

Chateauneuf du Pape

Travelling thru Rhone valley is a true awakening for the spirit, a wonderful countryside, friendly people and fantastic wines in all the beautiful villages where my favourite is Chateauneuf du Pape, I could live there for the rest of my life so if anybody want to buy a small hotel that I can run J please get back to me. We started our trip in south of Rhone and travelled thru Banyuls and Rivesaltes where they have some of the best fortified wines in the world, nice stuff. The next stop was in Chateauneuf du Pape and the famous castle of the Pope, fantastic view from the old castle overlooking all the vineyards in the area. I meet up with the lovely young winemaker at Domaine du Pere Caboche Emilie Boisson who let us taste all of her wines, very nice and beautifully balanced wines where she used all of the 13 allowed grape varieties in her red blends. Culinary competition in Egypt

 The last HACE EXPO her in Cairo showcased a wide range of suppliers and alo head the annual culinary competition held be the Egyptian chef association that invited myself to be a part of the judging team, It was great to se especially the young and female chefs showing skills and good attitude that was somewhat questionable by the fellow young gentlemen, to not win and accept is not in Egyptian culture. It was truly great to meet up so  many great guys and to know more people in the trade, some are very nice and some less but any how the output is positive for myself, and great enjoyment. What is nice is to be able to give the competitors proper feedback that will make them stronger and better next time they come back to compete, I want them to show that they learned something every time they spent time in the box. Thank you ECA for the invite and I hope to get a second chance later this year.
